Bargain hunters gearing up for this week’s Prime Day sales need to be cautious as cybercriminals are actively seeking to exploit the shopping frenzy. Security experts caution that scammers often use fake offers, phishing emails, and counterfeit websites to deceive consumers into disclosing personal information or payment details during events like Prime Day.

Check Point’s security team revealed that a significant number of Amazon-related web domains, totaling 6,843, were registered globally between December 2025 and last month, with a notable spike of 1,446 new domains in April alone. This timing is concerning as attackers can use this period to establish malicious domains, making them appear legitimate and harder to detect before Prime Day.

Despite the majority of new Amazon-themed domains being safe, Check Point identified that approximately one in every 11 domains was either malicious or suspicious. The company emphasized that Prime Day scams are successful because they closely mimic genuine shopping experiences, including familiar branding, convincing checkout pages, delivery notifications, and last-minute urgency.

To stay safe while shopping on Prime Day, consumers should take simple precautions. It is crucial to scrutinize website addresses before entering any sensitive information, as scammers often create fake sites that closely resemble Amazon’s authentic platform. Additionally, individuals should refrain from clicking on links received via emails, text messages, or social media posts and instead directly visit Amazon by manually typing the website address.

Warning signs of potential scams include unbelievably cheap deals, messages claiming refunds, or alerts pressuring immediate action due to expiring offers. Moreover, fake notifications about suspended Prime accounts are common tactics used by scammers. In such cases, it is advisable to verify information directly on Amazon’s official website.

By following these safety measures, shoppers can navigate Prime Day without falling victim to fraudulent schemes. Prime Day is scheduled to take place from June 23 to June 26, with Express.co.uk offering coverage of the event’s top deals and promotions.
