The debate over Starmer’s leadership coincides with preparations for the Greater Manchester mayoral by-election triggered by Burnham’s election, scheduled for July 30, with Labour expected to announce its candidate on June 26.
Ayesha Hazarika, a broadcaster and Labour peer, pointed out that the Prime Minister’s legacy could be positively shaped if he gracefully steps down, allowing the party to move forward effectively.
