Police are seeking assistance from the public following the abduction of a four-year-old child while his mother was caring for a baby.
The young boy disappeared while playing near a fish pond at a local park in Sandwell, near Birmingham. Law enforcement officials stated that the child went missing briefly before being located in nearby woodland.
The incident occurred yesterday afternoon at Haden Hill Park in Cradley Heath off Halesowen Road. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
“We are in the initial phases of the investigation, and specialized officers are speaking with the boy and his family to determine the exact sequence of events,” stated West Midlands Police.
The suspect is described as a black teenager of short stature with curly hair, clean-shaven, and wearing black clothing. While the police believe this to be an isolated event, they acknowledge the concerns it raises within the community.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage as part of their inquiries and are requesting witnesses to provide any relevant information.
“We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who were present in the park at the time and may have captured footage on their mobile devices,” mentioned the police in a statement.
Anyone with details is urged to contact the authorities by dialing 101 and quoting log number 3966-180626. Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555111.
Additional police officers will be deployed in the area to provide reassurance, and the public is encouraged to approach them with any pertinent information.
