An 18-year-old woman tragically passed away after being struck by a lorry in a park that was reportedly taken without authorization by a group of individuals, according to the police.
The incident occurred in Southend’s Chalkwell Park area during the early hours of Saturday, June 13, resulting in the woman sustaining severe injuries and being swiftly transported to the hospital.
Essex Police disclosed that two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, have been apprehended on suspicion of causing serious injury through reckless driving and have been released on bail.
Authorities are urging witnesses to step forward to aid in the investigation, noting the presence of a large gathering of young people in the vicinity at the time of the accident.
A statement from Essex Police mentioned, “A teenager who was critically injured in a vehicle-related incident in Southend has sadly passed away.”
“We were summoned to the Chalkwell Park area around 12:30 am on Saturday, June 13, following reports that a group had illicitly gained control of a small articulated loading vehicle.”
