A pub in the United States that served more than 5,000 beers to England fans had to shut down during a viewing party for England’s victory against Croatia in the World Cup due to chaotic circumstances.
The Londoner Pub in Dallas, Texas, faced an early closure as ordered by the fire marshal, as videos on social media captured England supporters overwhelming the establishment once again. The previous day, the pub had reportedly made over £30,000 in sales by selling 2,352 beer bottles.
The Dallas Police were present outside the venue as rowdy fans, draped in St. George’s flags, lingered around the premises even after being dispersed. The pub expressed gratitude for the business but emphasized that the sales figures did not justify the damage to their property and landscape.
The closure was attributed to the disorderly conduct that transpired, leading to the fire marshal’s directive. Despite the challenges, the pub management thanked those who recognized their efforts in handling the situation and reminded guests of their location within a business complex near residential areas.
On a previous night, the pub hosted numerous England fans who disregarded police instructions to vacate. Some fans were seen playing football near the balcony, occasionally landing the ball on nearby vehicles, and dropping plants off the edge. Police intervention was necessary to disperse the crowds before 10 pm, with some fans assisting in the cleanup later on.
The venue had reached its maximum capacity with only two security guards on duty, leading to the closure. The Londoner Pub informed its patrons of reopening at 11 am the following day to resume operations.
