A mother has spent £5,000 to turn her residence into a ‘Barbie Dreamhouse’ featuring a pink slide, but some locals have criticized its appearance. Nicole Watt, 27, has adorned the outside of her home in Carluke, Scotland, with Barbie-themed decorations like a mannequin, palm tree, dressing table, and surfboard. Inspired by her three daughters who are Barbie enthusiasts, Nicole dedicated six months to transforming her house into a Barbie wonderland, complete with pink disco ball, flamingos, and beach toys.
Most of the Barbie-themed elements were crafted using wood, pink paint, and repurposed materials, costing Nicole an estimated £5,000. The house has become a popular attraction locally and online, drawing numerous visitors for photo opportunities. While many have praised the creative endeavor, some neighbors have expressed mixed feelings about the extravagant display.
Nicole explained that the Barbie Dreamhouse was erected as part of the Carluke and District Gala Day, constructed in three phases with the help of family members. Adorned with a variety of Barbie-inspired items on the exterior, such as a jewelry board, disco ball, flamingos, and beach balls, the house is set to be dismantled soon as Nicole awaits the removal of the scaffolding.
The eye-catching Barbie Dreamhouse has gained significant attention on social media platforms like TikTok, attracting visitors from various locations. Locals have commended the family’s efforts in creating this unique Barbie-themed attraction, expressing admiration for the cheerful and lively display. Some have even suggested keeping the Barbie Dreamhouse up longer to enjoy the memories and fun it brings to the neighborhood.
