Local authorities in Mexico have reported the discovery of a body wrapped in a black bag inside the trunk of a car near Iran’s World Cup training center. The unsettling finding was made in a supermarket parking lot opposite the Caliente Stadium in Tijuana. The vehicle had been abandoned for several days until a foul odor emanating from it prompted officials to investigate.

The Tijuana prosecutor’s office disclosed that a body was found in the trunk of a grey Toyota SUV, believed to have been there since the previous Wednesday, according to a report from Mirror US. Authorities stated, “Upon examination of the vehicle, they discovered a person wrapped in a black bag in the trunk, displaying signs of violence.”

The victim’s identity has not been released by officials, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

Meanwhile, operations within Iran’s training facility, hosted at the Mexican team Club Tijuana’s home base, have proceeded without interruption as the team prepares for their upcoming matches.

Initially planning to set up camp in Arizona, Iran relocated to Mexico due to visa and travel constraints affecting team members. The squad will journey to the United States for their World Cup games.

Placed in Group G, Iran is set to compete against Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand in their quest to progress to the knockout rounds. Recently, there was a public uproar after Iranian supporters were informed that their ticket allocations for the tournament had been withdrawn, leading to a stern response from the Iranian Football Federation.
