Ben Stokes has been dropped from the England squad for the second test against New Zealand as an investigation is ongoing regarding a nightclub incident. Reports indicate that Stokes was involved in a confrontation with Gus Atkinson, a security member, and a Saracens rugby player. The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that Stokes has been removed as captain and excluded from the squad while the investigation continues.

In response to the situation, Joe Root will step in as the Interim Captain for the upcoming test match. Additionally, Jofra Archer and Jordan Cox have been included in the squad as replacements. This decision has led to vice-captain Harry Brook being passed over for the captaincy role.

The ECB stated that they are looking into a breach of team protocols following the incident involving Stokes and Atkinson at a nightclub. The cricket governing body is gathering more information and will provide updates on the squad for the second test in due time. Saracens also acknowledged the incident involving one of their academy players and assured that they are investigating the matter thoroughly.

After winning the first test against New Zealand, England is gearing up for the next match scheduled to start at The Oval next week. The revised squad sees Joe Root captaining the team, with new additions like Jofra Archer and Jordan Cox.
