A recent investigation by the Mirror has uncovered strong connections between notorious double murderer Christopher Halliwell and the location where a young graduate’s body was discarded three decades ago. Melanie Hall, 25, went missing in 1996 after leaving a nightclub in Bath and her remains were discovered 13 years later near the M5 in Gloucestershire.
Records from the electoral roll obtained by the Daily Mirror indicate that Halliwell’s sister had been residing in the same Gloucestershire town where Melanie’s body was found, while his mother and stepfather lived in a nearby town during the same period. These findings have raised suspicions regarding Halliwell’s potential involvement in Melanie’s murder.
Former Detective Superintendent Steve Livings, who led the initial investigation into Melanie’s disappearance, commended the Mirror’s efforts in shedding light on the case. Melanie’s father expressed his hope of seeing justice served for his daughter, emphasizing the importance of holding the perpetrator accountable.
Halliwell, now 62, is serving a life sentence for the murders of two other young women, Becky and Sian, who were similarly abducted and left in remote locations. The Mirror’s in-depth research has revealed additional details about Halliwell’s criminal history and his connections to various areas relevant to the investigations.
The investigation has sparked renewed interest in a previously unsolved murder case involving another young woman, Julie Finley, potentially linking Halliwell to yet another tragic crime. Despite these developments, authorities maintain that Halliwell is not currently a primary suspect in the ongoing investigations.
