Tesco has confirmed their opening times for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend – and it will see store hours change. There are always two bank holidays over Easter, and each year shops, businesses, and supermarkets across the UK change their opening hours to reflect this.
The two bank holidays are Good Friday, which falls on April 18 this year, and Easter Monday, which is April 21. In the UK, Easter Sunday is classed as a public holiday – like Christmas Day – and under trading rules larger shops that are over 280 sq meters need to close on this day. Tesco has confirmed that it will be closing its larger supermarket stores for the day on Easter Sunday.
In the week leading up to the bank holiday, Tesco will be operating under its normal opening hours, and things will only change over the weekend. Tesco’s opening hours for both its larger and convenience stores are usually between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m., with the majority closing between 10 p.m. and midnight.
On Good Friday, the majority of large Tesco stores across England and Wales will be open from 6am until 10pm. All large stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland will trade their normal hours on the bank holiday Friday.

Tesco stores will be operating under their normal hours once again on the Saturday before closing on Sunday. However, Tesco’s convenience stores will be open as normal on the Easter Sunday from 7am to 11pm.
On Easter Monday, most large Tesco stores across England and Wales will be open from 8am to 6pm. The majority of the larger Northern Ireland stores will also be open from 10am to 8pm. The majority of the large Express stores will be open from 8am – 6pm and the smaller convenience stores will be open as normal.
Trading rules are different in Scotland, where stores are allowed to stay open on Easter Sunday. Most larger stores will open under normal hours for Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but there will be reduced hours of 8am to 10pm on Easter Monday.
Tesco also offers same-day delivery service called Whoosh and according to Tesco’s website, Whoosh hours vary during publib and bank holidays. This is because some stores may be closed or have reduced hours during this time.
Tesco’s website says: “We’ll select the most appropriate store to fulfil your order, based on current capacity. The range of products you can shop from may vary, depending on where your order is being picked from.”
Opening hours may differ from store to store, so it is best to check your local Tesco opening times by using its online store locator tool. This is also the best place to check for Petrol Filling Station opening times, as these can vary from main store opening hours.
