An Iraqi militia leader, Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood al-Saadi, has been accused of orchestrating a series of anti-Semitic attacks in the UK. Allegedly, he declared, “This conflict will persist, either they eliminate us, or we eliminate them.” Al-Saadi purportedly disclosed to an FBI informant about overseeing multiple terror cells in Europe and expressed a willingness to engage in violent acts.
He is believed to have orchestrated various attacks in London, including targeting Jewish community services and individuals. Additionally, he allegedly tried to fly a drone into the Israeli embassy and set fire to a Persian media organization. The US Department of Justice has linked him to at least 18 terrorist incidents across the US and Europe.
Authorities claim that Al-Saadi associated with a group called Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (Hayi), which has claimed responsibility for the attacks. He has been accused of plotting to support Hayi and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The US government has designated both organizations as foreign terrorist groups.
Al-Saadi’s lawyer argues that he is a political prisoner and is being targeted due to his connection with former IRGC leader Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a US drone strike. Al-Saadi allegedly vowed to avenge Soleimani’s death and posted incendiary messages on social media. He has been detained in the US and faces charges related to terrorism and supporting extremist activities.
The case against Al-Saadi was unveiled in a federal court in Manhattan, detailing his alleged involvement in violent activities across several countries. Authorities are investigating his ties to Hayi and extremist factions. Al-Saadi remains in custody and has not entered a plea. His arrest came after a series of posts on social media claimed responsibility for attacks in the name of Hayi, a group previously unknown to security agencies.
