A tragic incident in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, resulted in the death of a young footballer, Tyler Fairman, and injuries to four others when a car collided with a group of pedestrians early on a Saturday morning. Duane Anthony, 40, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
Fairman, 26, was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a Vauxhall Astra that veered onto the pavement and hit the group. Despite efforts to save him, Fairman succumbed to his injuries the following day, prompting the police to launch a murder investigation.
Duane Anthony was apprehended by the police on Saturday evening and faces charges for attempted murder, aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified, and driving without valid insurance. He is scheduled to appear in Nottingham Crown Court on June 8.
The Woodthorpe Park Rangers FC confirmed that three of their team members, including the manager, were among those hit by the car in Arnold town center. The club expressed deep concern for the injured player’s well-being and requested privacy during this difficult time.
