Iran’s capital, Tehran, experienced shaking from a 4.6 magnitude earthquake. The quake, reported by Iranian state media citing the country’s seismological center, struck at a depth of 10 kilometers. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries so far.

This seismic event occurred amidst ongoing tensions in Iran following a conflict triggered by a joint US-Israeli attack in February, which resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Subsequent missile and drone retaliations from Tehran have heightened fears of a broader regional conflict.

Although a fragile ceasefire negotiated in April is currently holding, tensions remain elevated. US President Donald Trump has expressed concerns about the sustainability of the truce, considering resuming attacks on Iran due to frustrations with the country’s negotiation strategies and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
