“Tragic Fall Claims Life of Young Swimming Instructor in Tenerife”

A young man, aged 20, tragically passed away after falling from a hotel balcony while vacationing in Tenerife. Harrison Hanley, a swimming instructor from West Derby, was discovered at the Parque Santiago 2 apartment complex in Playa de las Americas on April 25. His body was found by a maintenance worker who reported that Harrison had fallen from an internal balcony within the building.

The coroner, André Rebello, confirmed during an inquest at the Gerard Majella Courthouse in Liverpool that Harrison’s death was a result of a fall from the internal balcony and was deemed a “tragic accident.” The coroner stated that Harrison died instantly from his injuries, clarifying that there was no indication of foul play.

The official cause of death listed on Harrison’s Spanish death certificate was traumatic shock due to polytrauma resulting from the fall. The coroner ruled the death as accidental and urged Harrison’s family to cherish his memory and continue celebrating his life.

In response to Harrison’s untimely passing, his former school, St Sebastian’s Catholic Primary School, paid a heartfelt tribute to him. The school remembered Harrison as a beloved former pupil with a vibrant personality that brightened every room he entered. A book of condolences was opened by the school to allow people to share their memories and reflections of Harrison.

Additionally, a fundraising initiative was organized by Harrison’s friend, Jack Parry, to support Harrison’s family in this difficult time. The initiative highlighted Harrison’s charismatic and uplifting presence, emphasizing his ability to bring people together and spread joy effortlessly.

St Hilda’s High School also honored Harrison’s memory, describing him as a lover of life and people, known for his infectious charm and sense of fun. Harrison’s impact as a sportsman and friend was acknowledged, with his ability to uplift those around him fondly remembered by the school community.
