Good Morning Britain’s Richard Madeley interrupts show with double ‘breaking news’

Published:

Tuesday’s broadcast (15 April) of Good Morning Britain was interrupted for a significant ‘breaking news’ segment.

Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins directed the show, sharing the latest updates with viewers on various topics, including current affairs and weather forecasts.

After returning from a commercial break, Richard informed the audience about a new development from the States. In a recent interview, he mentioned that US Vice President JD Vance had shared some optimistic views, expressing “there is a good chance” for a prospective UK-US trade agreement.

In detailing the development, Richard highlighted: “That’s breaking news. It was just posted around two minutes ago.”

Richard relayed Vance’s exact words: “In an interview with UnHeard, a website, the US Vice President JD Vance has said there is a ‘good chance’ of a UK-US trade deal, his words. He says, ‘We’re working very hard with Keir Starmer’s government. The President loves the United Kingdom. He loved the Queen.

“‘He admires and loves the King. It’s a very important relationship, and he’s a businessman, and he has a number of very important relationships in Britain. But it goes deeper than that, and I think there is a good chance that yes, we will come to a great agreement that we are in the best interests of both countries.'”

Upon hearing Richard’s report, Charlotte, his co-host on GMB, noted that Vance’s phrase “great agreement” sounded quite encouraging, reports the Manchester Evening News.

She promised to keep GMB viewers informed of any “further developments” as she and Richard “keep an eye” on the unfolding situation.

Good Morning Britain had already delivered a ‘breaking news’ segment earlier in Tuesday’s show, discussing the latest on British Steel’s Scunthorpe plant.

Richard and Charlotte were on hand to report that two cargo ships loaded with essential raw materials had docked at the plant that very Tuesday.

The tension is mounting with officials scrambling to secure sufficient iron and coal to maintain operations at the furnaces.

Additionally, it was revealed that a third vessel, laden with coking coal and iron ore, was en route to Scunthorpe from Australia.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays on ITV1 from 6am
