A tragic incident has resulted in the death of a seven-year-old boy who was thrown from a bouncy castle in Belgium. The young football enthusiast, Jean Kylian Essombe, was propelled across a field in Hamme by a sudden gust of wind, causing him to collide with a fence and sustain severe injuries. Despite immediate medical attention at the scene and subsequent hospital care, Jean passed away a few hours later as medical professionals attempted to save him.

Additionally, three other children were injured in the incident and were taken to the hospital for evaluation. The unfortunate event occurred while Jean was spectating his older brother participating in a youth football tournament named the Youth Cup in Hamme on May 9. Jean had accompanied his brother Louis, who was playing for Wambeek-Ternat’s U10 team, at the tournament.

Authorities in East Flanders have initiated an investigation into the tragic accident to determine whether the bouncy castle was adequately secured and safety protocols were followed. The football club SK Wambeek-Ternat paid tribute to Jean, acknowledging his talent as a player and emphasizing his positive and enthusiastic demeanor. The club expressed deep sorrow at the loss and extended condolences to Jean’s family and friends during this challenging time.

In solidarity and respect for Jean, KFC Wambeek-Ternat, a club with approximately 600 players, canceled all activities over the weekend. Club officials emphasized the importance of supporting the affected families and trainers during this difficult period. The local football community, including FCV Dender EH Jeugd, also offered condolences and support to Jean’s family, friends, teammates, and the wider football network in the region.
