HBO’s live-action adaptation of hit video game series The Last of Us is finally back on our screens.
The second season arrived with plenty more drama picking up right where the series left off. After reminding viewers of the immediate aftermath left in Joel and Ellie’s wake, the show then skips ahead five years in its premiere episode.
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return to reprise their lead roles of Joel and Ellie. They are joined by old and many new faces. These include Catherine O’Hara taking on a brand new character not seen in the game.
However, at the time of writing, the second season of The Last of Us is not available for fans to binge in one go. Instead, viewers have to wait as episodes will be made available on a weekly basis.
It could result in a painstaking wait for each new instalment as the drama is set to be more intense than ever. Trailers that have been released so far suggest that Ellie, Joel and their allies will face brand new threats from dangerous infected and survivors alike.
Over in the US, episodes will air first on HBO every Sunday night. Meanwhile those in the UK will have to wait until the following Monday until it appears on their television schedules. However, they will be made available to stream around the same time it broadcasts Stateside.
So how many episodes of Last of Us season two are there? What date and time will be they be made available? Here’s everything you need to know.
TV lovers can now get Sky TV, Netflix and Discovery+ for £15 per month with the new Essential TV bundle.
This delivers live and on-demand TV without a satellite dish or aerial and includes hit shows like The Last of Us and Squid Game.
While there were nine episodes in total making up the first season, the follow-up consists of fewer, with seven in all. Each one has showrunner credited as writer, with the final two episodes also listing the original games director Neil Druckmann as co-writer.
Druckmann also directed the penultimate episode of the season. Meanwhile Mark Mylod, who helmed film The Menu and more than a dozen episodes of Succession directed the second episode.
As mentioned, episodes air in the US on HBO Sunday evenings. They are broadcast on 9pm on Sky Atlantic in the UK on the Monday. While they will also be made available to stream at the time of the US broadcast on MAX and NOW at around 9pm EST / 2am BST.
Below are the dates in the UK each episode is expected to be released. Episode titles are being kept under wraps until day of release. It’s already been confirmed that the show will return for a third season, meaning fans should expect a cliffhanger ending.
The Last of Us continues Mondays at 9pm on Sky Atlantic and streaming on NOW.
