A young apprentice welder, who suffered severe burns in a workplace accident, has shared his harrowing experience of the incident. Dwayne Bell, at the age of 17, faced a terrifying ordeal while carrying out a routine task at a steel yard in Wigan. A sudden fireball engulfed him, causing extensive burns to his face, chin, and hands.

The intensity of the blast resulted in third-degree burns, leaving Dwayne with lasting physical and emotional scars. Now 22, he is speaking out to raise awareness among fellow apprentices about the potential hazards present in work environments.

Recalling the traumatic event, Dwayne expressed his disbelief at surviving the inferno and emphasized the lack of supervision that contributed to the accident. Despite being inexperienced, he was tasked with burning waste materials without adequate training or oversight, leading to the catastrophic outcome.

The incident, which occurred in March 2021, left Dwayne in excruciating pain as he battled to extinguish the flames engulfing his body. Despite the immediate assistance from his colleagues, the severity of his injuries required him to be airlifted to the hospital, where he underwent multiple surgeries and a lengthy recovery process.

Following a legal settlement for a substantial amount, Dwayne continues to cope with the physical and psychological aftermath of the accident. Despite returning to welding with a different company, he faces challenges due to the lasting effects of his injuries.

Expressing his desire to raise awareness and prevent similar incidents, Dwayne hopes that his story will serve as a cautionary tale for others. He remains determined to move forward and rebuild his life after the traumatic experience.
