Iran has reportedly delivered a new peace proposal to the United States. The proposal, as per Axios, includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz, ending the ongoing war, and postponing nuclear negotiations. The plan suggests that nuclear talks will only begin after the Strait is operational again and the naval blockade is lifted.

Recent reports indicate that Donald Trump will convene a situation room meeting on Monday to discuss Iran’s latest proposal following significant progress overnight. Iran’s Chief Justice, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i, has initiated an investigation into the distribution of ‘Pro Internet’ SIM cards in Iran, allowing users to bypass the state-imposed internet blackout. The SIM cards, intended for a select group with government approval, have leaked into the black market.

The distribution of these SIM cards to pro-government activists while millions of Iranians remain disconnected from the internet has raised concerns. The internet blackout in Iran, in effect since February 28 due to US-Israeli strikes, has become the world’s longest state-imposed blackout, lasting 59 days as confirmed by NetBlocks.

Goldman Sachs has revised its Q4 2026 oil price forecast, increasing it to USD$90 per barrel for Brent Crude Oil and USD$83 per barrel for WTI Crude Oil due to a significant decline in Middle East oil production. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has traveled to Russia for peace talks, starting in Saint Petersburg and continuing to Moscow for discussions with President Vladimir Putin on Middle East developments.

Iran’s latest proposal aims to navigate internal disagreements on nuclear concessions. By focusing on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the naval blockade, Iran seeks to reduce US leverage on uranium enrichment demands, a key objective for Trump in the conflict. Oil prices surged following failed peace negotiations between the US and Iran, with Brent oil reaching USD$107.89 per barrel.

Allegations from Iranian state media networks regarding an incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner have stirred controversy, with claims of a staged scenario orchestrated by Trump himself. Oman’s foreign minister emphasized the need for diplomatic efforts to ensure navigation freedom in the Strait of Hormuz.

Chief Secretary to the UK Prime Minister warned of potential price hikes in energy, food, and flight costs post-war with Iran. The UK government is exploring measures to mitigate these impacts. Iran’s proposal for peace talks and the ongoing diplomatic efforts underscore the complex geopolitical dynamics at play in the region.
