An arrest has been made in connection with the investigation involving Lucy Letby, the nurse convicted of murdering babies. Cheshire Constabulary reported that a person was apprehended on suspicion of obstructing justice following a search at a property. The individual was later released on bail pending further investigation.

Letby, a 36-year-old from Hereford, is currently serving multiple life sentences for killing seven infants and attempting to murder seven others while working at the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016. The victims suffered various forms of attacks during Letby’s tenure as a nurse.

A recent Netflix documentary featured Baby D’s mother, who expressed her grief and anger over her daughter’s tragic death caused by Letby. The ongoing investigation, known as Operation Duet, focuses on potential corporate and gross negligence manslaughter at the hospital.

Cheshire Constabulary confirmed the arrest and emphasized that the investigations are ongoing, with no specific timeline provided. This development follows criticisms by Sir David Davis in Parliament regarding the force’s conduct and the demand for transparency in the investigation process.

The force defended its actions, denouncing misinformation and baseless claims aimed at tarnishing its reputation. Letby’s case is currently under review by the Criminal Cases Review Commission after her appeals were rejected in 2024.
