A candidate affiliated with the Reform Party, known to have met Nigel Farage, has been revealed to be a supporter of Oswald Mosley. Andrew Mahon, seen in a photo with the Reform leader, has openly expressed admiration for the infamous fascist figure. Running for council in Blackburn in the upcoming local elections, Mahon has also shown support for Enoch Powell. In a Facebook post from December 2024, Mahon stated, “Oswald was right 100%… we need an educational correction in the U.K. Powell and Moseley were correct, multiculturalism has failed, it has been an unmitigated disaster.”

Joe Mulhall, Director of Research at Hope Not Hate, uncovered Mahon’s controversial Facebook post and remarked on the concerning trend of Reform candidates expressing extreme views. Mulhall highlighted the disturbing nature of Mahon’s support for Oswald Mosley, citing the fascist leader’s antisemitic history and connections to Adolf Hitler.

Responding to a user’s comment on his post regarding Mosley and Powell, Mahon argued that there is a failure of integration in the UK that politicians have not addressed effectively. He emphasized that his stance is not racist but rather a recognition of the integration challenges faced by the country.

Mahon’s statements also included praise for Enoch Powell, who was dismissed from the Tory shadow cabinet in the 1960s due to his controversial “Rivers of Blood” speech. In a post from August, Mahon reiterated his support for Powell and liked a user’s comment referencing the infamous speech.

The Lancashire Telegraph reported on additional controversial social media remarks made by Mahon, including the use of offensive language and derogatory comments about a female Green MP. Despite the scrutiny, Mahon’s campaign remains active, with him sharing a photo of himself with Farage, who wished him luck in the local elections.

When questioned about Mahon’s views on Mosley and Powell, the Reform Party stated that they are investigating the allegations. Mahon has yet to provide a comment on the matter. This revelation follows previous reports of controversial remarks made by Reform candidates, highlighting a pattern of concerning behavior within the party.
