ITV Good Morning Britain viewers ‘stop watching’ after presenting line-up ‘chaos’

Published:

Good Morning Britain viewers “switched off” after a presenting shake-up on Monday (April 14).

Charlotte Hawkins teamed up with Richard Madeley to present the ITV breakfast show this morning, with Marverine Cole providing updates on the latest news.

Charlotte and Richard discussed some of the biggest stories hitting the headlines, including Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner’s calls for the Army to help tackle the Birmingham bin crisis.

They also spoke about British Steel staff and civil servants racing against time to stop the permanent shutdown of Britain’s last primary steelmaking plant, as well as the latest drama from the Celebrity Big Brother house.

However, the replacement line-up didn’t sit well with many fans, who vented their displeasure on X (formerly Twitter).

One frustrated viewer exclaimed, “Turn on #GMB see who is presenting and turn off. Absolute s*** show,” while another commented, “Which is why I decided to stop watching #GMB Not good for my blood pressure,” reports the Manchester Evening News.

A third chimed in: “Good god Richard’s back with Charlotte, time to switch off,” as someone else declared, “I can’t do it anymore.”

Another added, “Not this week thanks. Can’t watch Madeley,” while a sixth viewer noted, “Sounds like chaos.”

In contrast, a different fan was pleased with the change, posting: “Richard is so much better than Ed and Charlotte is an absolute delight. She needs to be given this job full time like Sian should be given full time on #ThisMorning.”

The announcement follows the news that Susanna Reid, the regular host from Monday to Wednesday, is taking a break – which she revealed at the beginning of the month.

“Susanna, we’ll see you in a couple weeks time,” Ed Balls commented as they concluded the show.

“See you in a couple of weeks, I’m going to go and spend some time off. I will be back, do not fear,” Susanna then assured viewers, before passing the baton to Lorraine Kelly.

As Susanna spends some quality time with her family, the breakfast programme has seen a rotation of presenters including Charlotte, Kate Garraway, and Ranvir Singh.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am
