A man from Swindon, Wiltshire, named Christopher Trybus, has been acquitted of the manslaughter of his late wife, who had taken her own life. Additionally, he was cleared of charges related to controlling and coercive behavior, as well as two counts of rape against the deceased, Tarryn Baird.
During the trial at Winchester Crown Court, the prosecution claimed that Mr. Trybus exerted control over Ms. Baird by using violence, sexually assaulting her, monitoring her movements, restricting her access to finances, threatening to disclose private information to her family, and isolating her from her relatives. Allegations also included the use of a belt to choke and strangle her during intimate encounters, causing her to lose consciousness.
In his defense, Mr. Trybus, who operated an IT company, testified that he frequently traveled abroad for work and was overseas during several incidents mentioned in the allegations. He further stated his belief that his late wife suffered from mental health issues stemming from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
