A 16-year-old girl in Michigan was rescued from an alleged kidnapper after discreetly signaling for help to a gas station attendant. The incident occurred when the teenager was waiting at a bus stop in Hamtramck and was forcibly taken by Donald Fields at gunpoint.
Another student who witnessed the abduction immediately called 911 as Fields drove away. Prosecutors revealed that Fields, 48, sexually assaulted the girl before stopping at a gas station where the alert shop worker, Abdulrahman Abohatem, noticed the girl’s silent plea for assistance.
Abohatem intervened, separating the girl from Fields and ensuring her safety. Police were alerted by students who tracked the girl’s location to the station. Upon arrival, officers swiftly apprehended Fields as he exited the store, leading to his arrest.
Charged with multiple offenses including criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, and firearm-related charges, Fields has a history of sexual assault charges. Despite entering a not guilty plea, he remains in custody without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 30.
Authorities commended the brave actions of the young girl, emphasizing her quick thinking and resilience in a harrowing situation. Prosecutors vowed to seek justice for the victim, acknowledging her courage and determination in the face of adversity.
