A family is left in mourning after their 7-month-old baby was fatally attacked by the family’s pit bull, leading to a heart-wrenching statement from the devastated father.
“I’d give my life to bring my baby back,” Kameron Turner posted on Facebook, sharing his grief nearly a day after his daughter Elizah tragically died in the incident. The attack took place at the family residence in Columbus, Ohio, on the morning of Wednesday, April 9.
Body cam footage released by the Columbus Police Department captured a man briefing the responding officer about the situation, noting that he had confined one of the dogs in a car while two others were still on the premises.

The body camera video reveals that officers reached the scene at 11:30am. A representative for the Franklin County Coroner’s Office informed People magazine that Elizah was declared deceased at 11:43am, reports the Mirror US.
The spokesperson detailed that initially, one of the parents rushed the child to a local fire station before she was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where Dr. Jennifer Melvin pronounced the 7-month-old dead shortly upon arrival. Sgt. James Fuqua of the Columbus Police Department stated that Franklin Animal Control is spearheading the investigation into the tragic event and has taken all three dogs into their care.
Her devastated dad wrote on Facebook: “All I want to say is please everyone who has babies hold them tight and never leave their side This pain is so unbearable.” Turner shared that his family had just moved into their new home, filled with hope for the future they were eager to start.
In a heart-wrenching statement, he said: “We have a long road ahead of us, and I really don’t understand why god puts us through this s***. It’s gonna be the worse road ahead of us, s*** has not stopped,” revealing the immense pain he’s enduring as a bereaved father.
To assist Elizah’s parents, who also have a four-year-old son, in handling the funeral costs, fundraising initiatives have been set up. The grieving dad added, “I just don’t understand why people who do right have to go through this pain.”

Which one of the dogs was responsible for the fatal attack is still unknown.
