Greggs is set to introduce a new addition to its menu, a chicken roll, joining the lineup alongside its popular sausage roll and vegan alternative. Priced at £1.35, the chicken roll features seasoned chicken encased in crisp, golden, glazed puff pastry.
To celebrate the launch, Greggs will host a pop-up event at a VHS store in London on Wednesday, offering fans an exclusive first taste of the new chicken roll. The pop-up will showcase a variety of roll-themed VHS tapes, and attendees are encouraged to come in groups of three, reflecting the trio of sausage roll options now available.
In addition to the chicken roll debut, Greggs will be serving complimentary chicken-themed cocktails and mocktails at the event. A Greggs spokesperson expressed excitement for the new addition, stating that the chicken roll completes their iconic roll trilogy with a blockbuster appeal.
Furthermore, Greggs recently announced the introduction of a big breakfast wrap in select Yorkshire stores, featuring sausage, bacon, cheesy omelette, and hash brown. The company is also exploring vending machine sales for its pastry snacks, with plans for automated and manual vending solutions in the future.
Despite a slight decline in pre-tax profits, Greggs remains focused on expansion, aiming for over 3,000 UK locations in the long term. The company has no immediate plans for price increases this year, following previous criticism over rising prices.
