Celebrity Big Brother pulled from regular slot as fans slam schedule shake-up amid Mickey Rourke axe

Published:

Celebrity Big Brother fans have been left fuming after ITV confirmed that it has pushed back the reality show by an hour on Sundays. The show will move from its regular 9pm slot to a later time of 10pm to make room for returning ITV drama Grace.

The schedule shake-up, which was confirmed ahead of the launch show, has now caused a a major stir on social media as this also means the spin-off show Late & Live will be on at the later time of 11pm. Taking to X, one avid CBB fan wrote: “The new series of Celebrity Big Brother will see Sunday episodes airing at the LATER time of 10pm on ITV1, due to ITV’s commitment to ‘new drama Sundays’ every week at 8-10pm. That means Late & Live will be on until after midnight!”

Another fan complained, writing: “You give us 18 MEESLY DAYS of Celebrity Big Brother, which is 42 DAYS FEWER than we even got from Channel 5 per year, and you can’t even schedule it properly????”

They added: “A whole a** 365 days of the year and TWO SUNDAYS can’t be found to air it properly ????? DO YOU THINK WE WANT TO STAY UP UNTIL MIDNIGHT ON A SUNDAY NIGHT TO WATCH LATE AND (probably not live because it’s past curfew and it’ll need to be pre-recorded) LIVE???????????

It went on to say: “In fact the one thing we did ask for was extended Sunday episodes since you can’t even give us a bloody Saturday show and now you pull this one!!! Super TV out.”

Meanwhile a third post said: “CBB not very mommy friendly being on until 11pm! #tired #10pm #bedtime #CBB.”

Celebrity Big Brother became the subject of discussion for another reason over the weekend after ITV bosses were forced to axe housemate Mickey Rourke over his use of inappropriate language.

The Hollywood actor allegedly used language towards fellow housemate Chris Hughes that was allegedly threatening.

A spokesman for ITV said: “Mickey Rourke has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House this evening following a discussion with Big Brother regarding further use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behaviour.”

Since joining the latest series of the ITV show, Mickey has been embroiled in controversy – and received a formal warning from Big Brother over language used towards JoJo Siwa.

JoJo accused Mickey of being “homophobic” after he said he was “going to vote the lesbian out real quick”. And Chris had comforted JoJo following Mickey’s comments on Wednesday night’s episode.

During their chat, Mickey was seen asking JoJo if she liked boys and girls. She responded: “Girls. My partner is non-binary.”

He then told her: “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay any more.” JoJo then hit back saying: “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay any more.”

Mickey continued to make offensive comments towards JoJo. On another occasion, he said: “I need a fag.” Before adding: ” I’m not talking to you.”

Big Brother swiftly called the actor into the diary room and gave him a formal warning. In response he said: “I apologise. I don’t have dishonourable intentions – I’m just talking smack, you know. I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean in it any bad intentions and if I did, sorry.”
