Amid revelations of her email referring to Jeffrey Epstein as a “supreme friend,” Sarah Ferguson has been removed as a patron by both a children’s hospice and a food charity.
Julia’s House, a children’s hospice in Dorset and Wiltshire, deemed it unfit for the duchess to retain her role due to her communication with Epstein. The hospice stated that following the disclosure of her correspondence with Epstein, it was inappropriate for her to continue as a patron, thanking her for past support.
Similarly, The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation founders, Nadim and Tanya Ednan-Laperouse OBEs, expressed concern over the duchess’s communication with Epstein. Although Ferguson had not been actively engaged with the charity for some time, the foundation decided it was unsuitable for her to remain associated with the organization in light of recent revelations, expressing gratitude for her previous support.
An email dated April 26, 2011, to Epstein surfaced, contradicting Ferguson’s previous statements distancing herself from the sex offender. In the message, she apologized to Epstein for linking him to paedophilia in the media, describing him as “steadfast” and “generous.” Her spokesperson attributed the email to advice given to appease Epstein and his threats.
Following her acknowledgment of accepting £15,000 from Epstein, Ferguson expressed regret in an interview with the Evening Standard in March 2011, denouncing paedophilia and vowing to sever ties with Epstein.
Reports suggest that shortly after, Ferguson sent an email to Epstein from her private account, expressing fear and apologizing for causing him disappointment. She mentioned being advised to avoid contact with him to prevent further complications for herself and the Duke of York.
