Widespread disruptions are causing chaos on multiple rail services heading into Liverpool this morning. Among the affected services are Northern services from Warrington and Manchester Oxford Road. The 8.29am East Midlands Railway service from Nottingham and the 9am train from Cleethorpes are also experiencing delays, as reported by Liverpool Echo.
Additionally, the 8.59am Transpennine Express service from Newcastle and the Avanti West Coast train from London Euston, scheduled to arrive at 9.04am, have been impacted. Late-running services are also observed from Ellesmere Port, West Kirby, Chester, and New Brighton into the city.
A frustrated commuter shared with the Echo, “I had initially purchased a ticket for the 8.17am Mossley Hill service, but just before leaving my house, I discovered it had been canceled. Although there was a replacement service less than 20 minutes later, it too was delayed due to electrical wiring issues.”
Expressing his frustration further, he added, “Subsequently, the following service, scheduled just 10 minutes later, faced the same issue. While I understand such incidents occur, the lack of timely announcements left passengers stranded on the platform, unsure of when they could catch a train. It was a challenging start to the week for about 100 disgruntled individuals who had to seek alternative transportation or wait indefinitely.”
