Blue Peter legend Katy Hill was a TV favourite during her five-year stint on the iconic children’s show. But nearly three decades later the presenter has taken a new path, leaving small screen behind.
Katy was one of the most iconic and daring presenters on the long-running children’s programme, which she joined in 1995. Her stint on the show saw her sent on all sorts of amazing and risky stunts – including becoming the first civilian in history to fly with the RAF’s iconic Red Arrows team.
But Katy took that all in stride, winning the hearts of youngsters – and their parents – up and down the country. Speaking about her time on the show on Good Morning Britain just last month, Katy said: “I wanted to present that show since I was five.
“It was because this was the ’70s, right, you guys know this? There had been no girl power.
“That was the place I saw girls jumping out of planes, flying fast jets and fast cars. Generally, it’s pretty cool. I was like: ‘That’s the job for me!'”
After her time on CBBC she made the move to mainstream television, getting the gig for BBC One’s Live and Kicking alongside Ortis Deley, although this would only last for a year after ratings plummeted following the success of rival SMTV. But Katy’s career wasn’t held back, and she bagged a steady series of hosting slots, including Top of the Pops, Football Fever, BBC’s Holiday, and her own radio show on Capital FM.
However after stepping out of the public eye later in the 2000s, Katy moved into an entirely different field. Seemingly preferring life on hard ground and not being thrown around in an plane, Katy launched a life coaching and wellness business after working to become what she describes as an ‘Internationally Certified Success and Confidence Coach’.
According to her website, she promises to “EQUIP & EMPOWER YOU to unlock WHO you are, WHERE you’re going and HOW you’ll get there so you can truly LIVE the life you were BORN TO LIVE.” She also offers one-to-one coaching and help with visualisation and manifestation, as well as voicing tips on her podcast and newsletter.
Outside of her career her home life also includes a familiar face many will remember. Katy has been married to former co-host of Live and Kicking Trey Farley for more than 20 years. Together the couple have two children.
Trey, now a director and producer, is Katy’s second husband. She was previously was married to teenage sweetheart Andrew Frampton before they split in 2001.
