A British national was fatally shot on the Costa Blanca in Spain, adding to a series of violent incidents in the region. Authorities have launched an investigation into the murder of the 29-year-old individual, whose body was found with gunshot wounds at a residential property in Campoamor, near Torrevieja.

This incident follows a recent shooting where another Brit narrowly escaped death after being targeted multiple times in an underground car park in the same area. Detectives in Spain are exploring potential connections between these recent crimes involving British and Irish citizens on the Costa Blanca.

The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was discovered on December 21 at a residential estate in Campoamor called Lomas del Garbinet. Local police were alerted by the victim’s friends about a concerning situation, leading to the discovery of the victim’s body. Authorities suspect the crime to be drug-related, although no arrests have been made yet.

In a separate incident on December 11, a British man was targeted in a shooting where around 15 bullets were fired at his vehicle in Orihuela Costa. The victim, who was later identified as one of the individuals involved in an armed robbery at a cannabis club, was critically injured and hospitalized. Civil Guard detectives are investigating this shooting as a possible retaliation between rival gangs.

Other violent incidents in the area include the shooting of an Irishman near a shopping center, and the stabbing of another Irishman, both resulting in serious injuries. Additionally, the case of a Belfast-born man found dead in an orchard near Torrevieja led to the arrest of two suspects, including the suspected killer who was released on bail after paying a substantial amount.

Amid these events, a local newspaper suggested a potential connection between the recent murder and the discovery of loaded firearms in a vehicle linked to individuals currently under investigation for unlawful weapons possession. Police are reportedly looking into this possible link, although official confirmation has not been provided yet.
