Police in Huddersfield are currently investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred within minutes of each other. The initial event transpired around 8:01 pm last night, where a man sustained gunshot wounds in the leg and shoulder on Smiths Avenue in the Marsh district. Shortly after, at 8:05 pm, another shooting incident unfolded on Farriers Street in Lindley, where a gun was aimed at three individuals.
Authorities have indicated that the two shootings are not connected, as reported by YorkshireLive. The police are now reaching out to the public for any relevant information pertaining to the incidents.
Regarding the first shooting, West Yorkshire Police released a statement emphasizing the seriousness of the situation and the need for public cooperation. Detective Inspector Suzanne Hall from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team stressed the gravity of any firearm-related incident and assured that all leads would be diligently pursued to apprehend the culprits and remove any firearms from circulation.
In another development, a doorbell camera captured images of masked individuals in the vicinity during the attacks. These individuals, seen near a vehicle wearing balaclavas, were reported to have been observed in the Farriers Croft area as well. Separately, a statement issued by West Yorkshire Police highlighted a second shooting incident on Farriers Street, where three people were targeted but fortunately escaped injury. The authorities reiterated that these incidents are being treated as distinct cases and are being thoroughly investigated as such.
