Snow is forecasted to impact various regions of the UK for three consecutive days, affecting 10 counties in England and Scotland, as indicated by new maps. According to WXCharts’ forecast, snowfall is expected between December 5 and December 7 in parts of Britain. Specifically, on December 6, snow is likely to fall in Northumberland, County Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire in England.
In Scotland, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Highland, Angus, Perth and Kinross, and Stirling are the counties most likely to experience snowfall. The snowy conditions are predicted mainly for Scotland on December 5 and 7, while England is anticipated to have wet weather during this period.
The Met Office’s extended forecast for December 5 to 14 suggests that any snowfall during this timeframe will primarily occur at higher elevations. The agency anticipates continued unsettled conditions, with a weakening frontal zone bringing cloud cover, patchy rain, and drizzle, particularly affecting northern and eastern regions.
The Met Office has issued warnings for wet and windy weather today, with heavy rain expected in England, Wales, and parts of southern Scotland. Coastal areas are likely to experience gales. Additionally, there are four weather warnings currently in effect, including an amber rain alert for central and south Wales, labeled as a “danger to life” and lasting until the end of the day.
Two yellow rain warnings cover extensive areas of the country, encompassing regions such as the East Midlands, North West England, SW Scotland, Lothian Borders, Yorkshire and Humber, London and South East England, South West England, Wales, and the West Midlands. Another yellow rain alert, valid until 9pm today, includes Central, Tayside and Fife, North East England, North West England, SW Scotland, Lothian Borders, and Strathclyde.
The Met Office anticipates clearer skies with scattered showers between Tuesday and Thursday, primarily in western regions, followed by the eastward progression of more persistent rain on Thursday, accompanied by breezy conditions.
