Two individuals have lost their lives following a collision between a Bus Éireann coach and a car in Northern Ireland. The incident occurred around 7pm on Friday on the Derrylin Road near Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh. The bus, which was operating the Expressway Route 30 service from Donegal to Dublin, was involved in the crash, as reported by the Irish Mirror. The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed on Saturday evening that two people had tragically passed away.
A spokesperson for the police stated that they received a report of a collision involving a Ford Kuga and a bus on the Derrylin Road shortly after 7pm. Despite the efforts of officers and emergency services, the two occupants of the Kuga were pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, there were no reports of serious injuries to the bus driver or passengers.
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call on Friday at 7pm regarding the two-vehicle collision. They dispatched two Rapid Response Paramedics, two Emergency Crews, and an Ambulance Officer to the scene. After assessing and providing initial treatment, no patients required hospitalization.
Bus Éireann confirmed the involvement of one of their vehicles in the incident, emphasizing the importance of safety for passengers, staff, and the public. The company expressed readiness to cooperate with authorities as needed.
This tragic event follows another fatal collision just five days prior, involving a Route 101 bus, a lorry, and a car in Gormanston, Co Meath.
