England is preparing for a bout of wintry weather, as snow is expected to blanket several counties according to the latest WXCharts maps based on MetDesk data. Areas such as Northumberland, County Durham, Cumbria, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire could experience snowfall by 9 pm tonight.

Snow has already been falling in parts of north-west Scotland and is anticipated to persist overnight. The weather maps for tonight indicate that the snowfall pattern will extend across a wide area, encompassing the Highlands, the Grampians, and the possibility of flurries in Glasgow, Stirling, and Perth.

The English counties on alert for potential snowfall are Northumberland, County Durham, Tyne and Wear, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, and Cumbria.

The Met Office has issued two yellow alerts in England – one for ice and another for rain. The ice warning is valid until 9 am tomorrow for certain regions, while the rain alert remains in place until the end of the day for other areas.

The forecast from the Met Office for this evening and tonight predicts rain clearing towards the North Sea, accompanied by strong winds along the eastern coast. Elsewhere, the weather is expected to be drier with clear spells leading to widespread frost and possible icy patches.
