A man was discovered deceased in a flat at George Toon Court on Brook Street, Syston, just two days before Christmas, prompting a murder inquiry. Emergency responders were summoned to the scene after receiving a safety concern report. Upon entering the residence, law enforcement officers encountered an unresponsive man in his 40s.
Medical personnel arrived and confirmed the man’s death at the location. Leicestershire Police have initiated a murder investigation, suspecting that the man was assaulted within the flat. A 49-year-old individual has been apprehended on suspicion of murder and is presently in police custody. Authorities have cordoned off the area and are conducting various inquiries, including interviewing local residents and reviewing CCTV footage to trace the victim’s movements prior to the incident.
Detective Inspector Kevin Hames, the lead investigator, stated, “Our team is diligently working, supported by specialized resources and local officers, to ascertain the exact sequence of events. The incident is believed to have occurred inside the flat at George Toon Court yesterday morning. The victim and the detained individual are acquainted, and while the investigation is in its early stages, no further suspects are being sought at this time.”
