“Man Found Dead in Canal Near Lidl: Police Investigate”

Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a canal near a Lidl supermarket. The incident occurred in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire, where emergency services responded to reports at 7.30am. The man was retrieved from the Trent and Mersey Canal by firefighters and pronounced dead at the scene.

Staffordshire Police have labeled the death as “unexplained” and are seeking information from the public as they continue their inquiries. A spokesperson mentioned that the authorities were alerted to the situation on Hardingswood Road, where the man’s body was recovered from the canal. The investigation is ongoing, and the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear.

At the scene, images showed police officers near the canal with a blue tent set up at the water’s edge. An emergency services vehicle was also spotted outside the Lidl supermarket. Authorities are asking anyone with relevant information to contact them, urging witnesses to call 101 and reference incident number 110 from November 28.
