A murder probe has been launched after a woman died with “serious injuries” inside a home. Police were called to Hatfield Close in Lewisham at 6.41am after reports of a woman in her 40s being seriously injured. Paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance also arrived but she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Just minutes later, a 44-year-old man presented himself at Lewisham Police in connection with the incident. Police arrested him on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody. Authorities believe the man and woman were known to each other. The woman’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A post-mortem examination will take place in due course, police confirmed. The investigation continues.
