Channel 4 has criticized Donald Trump and announced plans to uncover his false statements. The network will broadcast special coverage during his State Visit to the United Kingdom.
During his visit today, the 79-year-old president met with Prince William and Princess Kate at Windsor Castle, followed by a meeting with King Charles and Queen Camilla. Trump and the monarch watched a ceremonial sword presentation before he briefly viewed archives from the royal collection.
Since taking office in January 2020, Trump, a former businessman and reality TV star, has faced backlash for his controversial remarks. Channel 4 aims to expose what they perceive as Trump’s falsehoods while he is in the UK, challenging his accusations of “fake news” against the media.
In a statement, Ian Katz, Channel 4’s chief content officer, indicated that the network will air a program titled “Trump V The Truth,” showcasing 100 instances of misleading statements made by Trump during his presidency. The show will feature fact-checks alongside the false claims, emphasizing the importance of truth in leadership.
Additionally, Channel 4 will broadcast the second episode of “The Donald Trump Show,” a documentary chronicling the last nine months of Trump’s presidency through news clips and social media content. This visit marks Trump’s second state visit to the UK, with protests expected in response to his presence.
Protests organized by the Stop Trump Coalition are scheduled in London and near Windsor Castle during Trump’s visit. The network’s critical coverage of Trump’s visit signals a contentious reception to the president in the UK.
