You need a high IQ to solve three quick-fire brainteasers in under a minute

Published:

It’s important to keep your mind active throughout the day – and one way to achieve this is by challenging yourself to a brainteaser.

To help out, a TikTok creator has put together three puzzles to be solve in one minute or under to test your lateral and creative thinking skills.

First, players are asked to identify ‘which person won’t fall from the tree’ when viewing an imagine of four people sat on two separate branches.

The first person is sat on the edge without a saw, while the second is sawing between them.

On the other branch, the third is sawing the branch of person one and two, and the fourth is sawing the branch their sitting on.

Next, players are simply asked to find the number 22 within a 5×5 grid of the number 21 – but they’re only given a few second to spot it before it moves on.

Finally, players are asked to identify what number they see in a colourful image with swirls and patterns laid over it in an attempt to trick them.

Users were quick to share their results in the comment section, with many pleased to have correctly answered at least one of the questions.

It comes after a Reddit user shared the toughest brainteaser they know, saying: “You have two lengths of rope. If you set fire to the end of either of them, the rope will burn in exactly one hour.

“They are not the same length or width as each other. They also are not of uniform width (they might, for example, be wider in the middle than at the end), thus burning half of the rope is not necessarily going to take 30 minutes.

“By burning the ropes, how do you measure exactly 45 minutes worth of time?” Before opening the floor up for answers, they clarified no watches or time measuring devises can be used.

Commenting on the puzzle, one user said: “I remember when I heard that riddle for the first time. Took me about 45 minutes to figure out.”

Another user added: “Maybe the real solution is ‘it takes exactly 45 minutes to solve the riddle so when you figure it out then you’ve measured 45 minutes’.” A third user said: “I’m not qualified for this thread…”

One more user added: “I am assuming fire travels just as quickly in one direction as the other. They might not meet in the middle if I light both ends (because of different widths and such), but it should take half as long if I have two fires.”

Thankfully, there is a solution to the mind-melting problem. So did you figure it out? Check the explanation below to see if your thoughts were along the right lines.

Sharing the correct answer, a final user said: “Light one rope on both ends and one rope on one end. When the rope on both ends runs out, 30 minutes has passed and there is 30 minutes remaining on the other rope. Light the other end of that rope.”
