President Donald Trump’s official helicopter had to make an unscheduled landing in the UK due to a hydraulic problem at the conclusion of his state visit. The President and First Lady Melania Trump were on board the Marine One helicopter en route back to the US when the pilot decided to land as a precaution. The White House confirmed that a minor issue with the hydraulics prompted the landing at a local airfield before the couple transferred to another helicopter to proceed to London’s Stansted airport for their flight on Air Force One.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the precautionary landing was made due to a minor hydraulic problem, ensuring the safety of the President and First Lady who then continued their journey on a support helicopter. Despite arriving approximately 20 minutes behind schedule, no specific reason for the delay was provided by the White House prior to departure.

During the final day of President Trump’s state visit, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the joint efforts of the UK and US to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin into agreeing to a peace agreement with Ukraine. President Trump expressed disappointment in Putin for escalating attacks on Ukraine, stating that he believed resolving the Ukraine conflict would be straightforward but felt let down by the Russian leader.

While the day proceeded smoothly overall, there were some differences in opinion between the two leaders. President Trump suggested military intervention to address the issue of small boats and cautioned against illegal migration, warning of its potentially detrimental effects on nations. He also highlighted disagreements with Prime Minister Starmer regarding the recognition of a Palestinian state and encouraged the UK to exploit its oil and gas reserves in the North Sea, contrasting wind power as costly and impractical.
