Morrisons giving away free food to families at 396 UK stores this Easter

Published:

Morrisons is giving out free food across 396 of its in-store supermarket cafes this Easter. The supermarket chain has once again partnered with Kellogg’s to launch breakfast clubs and will be giving out free bowls of cereal to families over the next few weeks.

Both adults and children can choose from a bowl of Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies or Coco Pops, with a choice of dairy and non-dairy milk, when they order a “Kellogg’s breakfast”.

Alongside this, customers can get a portion of free fruit alongside their breakfast and can choose from bananas, apples, pears or oranges. These will be kept in the fridges inside Morrisons cafes. The breakfast scheme will run all-day from Monday, April 7 until Sunday April, 27.

The partnership aims to support families during the Easter holidays when many school breakfast clubs are unavailable. This is the third year of the breakfast club partnership between Kellogg’s and Morrisons, with customers redeeming 22,000 bowls of cereal to date. The initiative serves as an extension of the school breakfast club programme that Kellogg’s has supported in the UK since 1998.

The scheme aims to help households whose finances become stretched with recent research conducted by Kellogs found that almost two-thirds of parents admit their food budget is stretched during the school holidays. A further two in five say they feel anxious about keeping their children fed.

Over half of parents say they would be interested in using Breakfast Clubs outside of term time, and nearly two-thirds of teachers agree that more needs to be done to support parents during school holidays.

In addition to the “Kellogg’s Breakfast”, customers can also claim a free kids’ meal in the Cafés through the Morrisons Kids Eat Free promotion.

One kids’ meal can be redeemed for free, along with any adult main meal costing over £5 from The Breakfasts, The Classics, and The Chippy menu sections. The offer is available every day, seven days a week, for any child aged under 16 in Morrisons Cafes nationwide. You can find your local Morrisons store using the supermarket’s online store locator here.

Six primary schools from around the country that have launched a new Breakfast Club this school year with the support of a Kellogg’s Breakfast Club grant have also been invited to attend a launch party breakfast at their local Morrisons Cafe.

Pupils will receive a free breakfast followed by a tour of Morrisons Market Street by food-making experts, allowing them to gain an understanding of where their food comes from.
