Carré Otis looks nearly untouched by the years – over three decades after her provocative scenes with Mickey Rourke in Wild Orchid captured the public’s imagination. Once a high-profile model, Carré, 56, has publicly reflected on her intense relationship with the Hollywood actor, whom she later married.
Their first encounter happened when she was just 20, during her audition for Wild Orchid, where Rourke was already signed on as the lead. They tied the knot in 1992, but the marriage was short-lived, ending in divorce by 1998. Just a few years in, in 1994, Rourke, 72, was arrested following accusations of domestic abuse. The charges were eventually dropped, but the shadow of the incident lingered.
Carré’s memoir, Beauty Disrupted, published in 2011, offers a raw and unsettling look into her time with Rourke. One of the most shocking revelations involves a loaded gun he allegedly hid in her purse. “We went out to dinner. We were almost at the restaurant when I looked down and saw a .357 Magnum on the floor near my feet,” she wrote.
Despite her demand that he remove it, she unknowingly continued carrying the weapon. The gun later fired inside their home -striking close to her heart. She described the terrifying moment in painful detail: “‘Wait! Help me!’ I finally cried out, forcing the words to come. ‘You gotta help me . . . I’m bleeding. I’m bleeding really bad.’
“I wailed. It hurt so much to move. This is a nightmare. Clean this up!’ Mickey was agitated. I could tell he had grave concerns that the press would get wind of the incident. I panicked, wondering which was more important: my life or covering up the fact that I’d been shot with Mickey Rourke’s gun?”
Carré was a major beauty icon in the 90s – and the years have done little to dim that glow. Today, she frequently shares snapshots of her glamorous life online, often photographed in vivid, dramatic dresses. She now sports a bright blonde hairstyle and continues to appear on magazine covers.
In her social media bio, she identifies herself as a “mother, model, author & activist,” marking a life that’s evolved far beyond the spotlight she first stepped into. Before marrying Carré, Rourke had been in a previous marriage with Debra Feuer, which lasted from 1981 to 1989. The former couple first met on the set of the 1981 TV movie Hardcase. They have reportedly remained friends since their split.
Mickey’s time with Carré followed soon after his divorce from Debra. Their chemistry in Wild Orchid was infamous, particularly due to the controversial sex scenes. Carré has since addressed the rumors, firmly denying that anything real happened on set.
