A manhunt is in progress after two men abducted a young woman into a tow truck on a bustling street.
The Metropolitan Police Service in London expresses worry about the well-being of the unidentified woman, believed to be between 28 and 32 years old.
Investigators are urging witnesses of an incident involving a young woman and a tow truck in Canary Wharf on Tuesday, September 30, to provide any information they may have.
Authorities received a report at approximately 11:25 pm stating that two men forced a woman into a white Ford Transit tow truck on Millharbour Road, near the junction of Lighterman’s Road.
An inquiry is being conducted by detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Central East Criminal Investigations Unit.
Leading the investigation, Detective Inspector Grant Stevens stated:
“We are eager to clarify the circumstances surrounding this incident and are worried about the well-being of the young woman, believed to be between 28 and 32 years old, whom we have not yet identified.
“Were you present in or near Millharbour Road, E17 during the incident and observed anything suspicious? Do you possess any CCTV footage or mobile phone recordings that could aid our investigation? If so, please reach out by dialing 101.”
A 42-year-old man from east London was taken into custody on Wednesday, October 1, on suspicion of kidnapping related to the incident and released on bail pending further inquiries.
