Child murderer Paul Mosley, who caused the deaths of six children by setting a house on fire, has passed away, as confirmed by his family. The 58-year-old’s death was announced by a family member, along with a relative of the six children who lost their lives in the tragic incident. Mosley, along with Mick and Mairead Philpott, intentionally started a fire at a residence in Allenton, Derbyshire, where the children resided, resulting in their deaths on May 11, 2012.
After a seven-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court, Mosley and the Philpotts were found guilty of six counts of manslaughter. The victims of the fire were Duwayne Philpott, 13, Jade, 10, John, 9, Jack, 8, Jessie, 6, and Jayden, 5.
During the sentencing in 2013, Justice Mrs. Kate Thirlwell KC held all three accountable for the intentional setting of the fire and the tragic loss of lives. Michael Philpott was identified as the main instigator behind the deadly act, with Mairead Philpott and Paul Mosley aiding him in executing the plan.
Despite being aware of the grave danger posed to the children by starting the fire, Mosley chose to participate in the scheme orchestrated by Michael Philpott. The judge sentenced Philpott, now 69, to life imprisonment, while his wife, now 44, and Mosley received 17-year prison terms.
Mosley was released from prison in 2021 but was later recalled and then released again in November 2023. Mairead Philpott was reportedly released in 2020 under a new identity.
