Several dogs allegedly attacked a 7-year-old girl, causing severe injuries to her scalp and legs. The incident occurred on June 27 in the vicinity of Barham Avenue and Bosque Avenue near Corning, as reported by the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office. The child, known as Patricia, was hospitalized following the attack.
A fundraising campaign on GoFundMe was initiated by Patricia’s grandmother, Monica Edmiston, to aid in the girl’s recovery. Edmiston described the extent of Patricia’s injuries, mentioning that she had been discharged from the hospital on June 30 but still faces a challenging road ahead.
Patricia’s family has been by her side during her hospitalization, even sleeping in their car in Sacramento to stay close to her. The community has shown support by exceeding the initial fundraising goal of $3,000, raising over $4,100 for Patricia’s family.
Authorities seized six dogs believed to be involved in the incident and transferred them to the Tehama County Animal Shelter for further investigation. The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office is conducting interviews and stated that no arrests have been made yet. The investigation is ongoing, with updates to be provided as new information emerges.
